Channel
Channel 26-44 — The Channel of Surrender
Channel 26-44 links the Heart to the Spleen. It is a gift for noticing potential and persuading others, grounded in memory and instinct.
At a glance
- Gates: 26 and 44
- Centers connected: Heart and Spleen
- Circuit: Tribal (Ego)
- Name: The Channel of Surrender
What it is
Channel 26-44 connects Gate 26 (persuasion) in the Heart with Gate 44 (alertness) in the Spleen. It belongs to the tribal group of channels and is often described as the channel of the salesperson: someone with instinct for what people need, and a way of making a convincing case.
How it tends to show up
People with this channel often have a good memory for patterns, such as what has worked and what has not. The Spleen's alertness picks up on who a person is and what they might want, and the Heart's willpower enables you to present it. You may be a natural at pitching, negotiating or promoting.
The word "surrender" refers to the way the individual supports the community: using talent in service of something larger. When the channel is used with honesty, it can build trust. Without honesty, it can lead to exaggerating.
Growth edges and tips
- Be honest. Persuasion is most sustainable when it is truthful.
- Honor your limits. Not every pitch needs to be made.
- Trust your instincts about people. Your first impression is often informative.
- Rest. The Heart's energy comes in bursts.
Reflection
How do you feel about persuasion, and what makes it feel honest to you?
If you only have one of the two gates
If only Gate 26 or only Gate 44 is active in a chart, the channel is not formed and it does not link the Heart and Spleen centers. A lone gate like this is often called a hanging gate. Its theme is present but shows up in a more flexible, in-and-out way, and you may feel the missing half most when you are around someone who carries it.
