Channel 35-36 — The Channel of Transitoriness

Channel 35-36 links the Throat to the Solar Plexus. It is a hunger for varied experience that turns into stories and perspective.

At a glance

  • Gates: 35 and 36
  • Centers connected: Throat and Solar Plexus
  • Circuit: Collective (Abstract)
  • Name: The Channel of Transitoriness

What it is

Channel 35-36 connects Gate 35 (change and progress) in the Throat with Gate 36 (crisis and new experience) in the Solar Plexus. It is the channel of transitoriness: a hunger for experiences, followed by an ability to talk about what was learned. People sometimes describe it as the "jack of all trades" channel.

How it tends to show up

People with this channel are often curious about life. You may try new things, move between environments, or shift careers, and each experience adds to what you know. When the emotional wave is high, you may feel eager to explore; when it is low, you may feel restless or uncertain.

This channel comes with emotional authority, so patience matters. Moments of upheaval can be intense, and they can also be valuable teachers. Over time you may become someone who can say, "I have been there," and offer perspective to others.

Growth edges and tips

  • Choose experiences wisely. Not every new experience is worth the cost.
  • Wait for clarity. Big changes are better made after the emotional wave has settled.
  • Reflect afterward. The learning comes from thinking about what you went through.
  • Be gentle with transitions. Change is easier with support.

Reflection

What experience has taught you the most, and what did it take to learn it?

If you only have one of the two gates

If only Gate 35 or only Gate 36 is active in a chart, the channel is not formed and it does not link the Throat and Solar Plexus centers. A lone gate like this is often called a hanging gate. Its theme is present but shows up in a more flexible, in-and-out way, and you may feel the missing half most when you are around someone who carries it.
